Outside of blogging circles, I’ve noticed that the general consensus is that WordPress isn’t a “real website” platform. People who really need a reasonably priced solution (free) that is easy to use (5 Minute Install, anyone?) and easy to customize (thousands of plugins and widgets at the click of a button) can’t seem to see past the “Just Another WordPress Weblog” tagline.
I’ve built more than a dozen websites, including a homeowner’s association website, a real estate website, an ecommerce site, and more on WordPress and think it’s possibly the greatest website building tool to EVER come along for non-technical people. It’s easy to learn, has thousands of support articles available to help you learn anything you want to know about making WordPress work for you. And, for those of you who don’t want to do it on your own, there are even WordPress consultants out there (like me) who can make it all happen for you.
I think that WordPress is quickly moving into the slot of THE “real website” platform … not just another blog platform.
